Unaltered Saffron Cake
Ingredients:
- Saffron threads (8–10, plus extra for garnish)
- Warm milk (2 tablespoons)
- Flour (1½ cups)
- Baking powder (1 teaspoon)
- Butter (½ cup)
- Sugar (¾ cup)
- Eggs (2)
- Milk (½ cup)
- Vanilla extract
- Sliced almonds, pistachios, and edible rose petals (for garnish)
Instructions:
Bloom Saffron: Steep 8–10 saffron threads in
2 tablespoons of warm milk for 10 minutes until the milk
turns rich golden and fragrant.
Prepare Batter: In a bowl, mix 1½ cups flour, 1
teaspoon baking powder, ½ cup butter, ¾ cup sugar,
2 eggs, ½ cup milk, vanilla, and the bloomed saffron
until smooth.
Bake: Pour into a greased cake pan and bake at 180°C
(350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden and a toothpick
comes out clean.
Garnish: Cool completely, then decorate with sliced
almonds, pistachios, edible rose petals, and a few
saffron strands before serving.
